Hofheim in Unterfranken, July 21 – 28, 2019

How much are you present for your own life? Most of us spend more time in our own inner world – worrying about the future, replaying the past, or lost in fantasy – than experiencing what life is offering to us right now. The present moment is where we can most directly be intimate with our life – touched by beauty and intimacy, while learning through the difficult lessons how to open our hearts.

Mindfulness – or vipassana – meditation is the practice described by the Buddha for developing wisdom, compassion, and peace by learning to be mindful of what is actually happening in the present moment. Using the breath, body sensations, thoughts, and emotions as objects of attention, we can learn to be more fully awake. When we see directly that the nature of reality is change, we begin to let go of clinging to the pleasant or avoiding the unpleasant. We become more capable of meeting each situation with spontaneity, fearlessness, and love.

Participants will be introduced to this meditation practice and the principles on which it is based. There will be periods of silent sitting and walking meditation as well as discussion, providing a foundation for applying mindfulness practice to everyday life.

This retreat emphasizes quieting the mind, opening the heart, and developing lovingkindness, clarity and depth of practice. The retreat will include systematic vipassana instructions, silent sitting and walking periods, dharma talks and interviews. An excellent first retreat or a great way to renew your practice.

The retreat language is English with German translation.

Dana
Dana means „giving“ and is a Buddhist practice in generosity. Due to the fact that this is a traditional Vipassana-Retreat, it runs on a Dana base – that means, at the end of the seminar you give the teacher whatever you can or as much as you believe adequate.
The organisational fee covers travel costs and accommodation for the teacher(s), but no honorarium.

According to this Buddhist tradition the teachings cannot be measured by material values and are therefore given entirely free of cost, the teachers demanding no fee whatsoever. To cover the cost of their livelihood and to ensure the continuation of their teaching activities, the teachers depend on voluntary donations by the course participants at the end of retreats.

This way the retreats can be offered with affordable prices, so that people with lesser means are able to take part, too.

Cancellation Conditions
  • For cancellations up to one month prior to the beginning of the course, an administration fee of 50 Euro will be charged.
  • Between 30 and 10 days prior to the beginning of the course, 50% of the course fee will be charged.
  • Should the booking be cancelled less than 10 days prior to the beginning of the course, the entire course fee will be charged.
